My husband and I went to Portland for 5 days last week. We had an amazing time,  the weather was perfect and the drive from Nelson was lovely.  We stayed in the NW area and having brought our bicycles we were able to ride to all the areas we wanted to visit easily.  The following places go on my must visit list.

Tasty & Alder for drinks and dinner

Toro Bravo for  dinner and drinks -you probably have to wait over an hour for a table. No worries, there’s a charming bar upstairs serving great drinks. To our delight there was an old rag time band playing in the room next door to this pub, the dance floor was packed with very skilled dancers.  We had to wait over an hour and half for our table, normally I would leave but was enjoying the band, the dancing, and the fancy drinks. This restaurant is worth the wait!

McMenamins Kennedy School  This has everything.

Deschutes brewery  serves fine craft beer and delicious meals.  They sell there homemade mustard. It’s fantastic.

Rogue Brew pub  I only drank IPA ‘s there, Wade tasted others.  They brew delicious beer.

I could go on and on about the street food, the coffee, music venues,  Powell’s,  bike riding along the river…..

Here are a few snap shots of the trip.
