gentle resistance This ongoing project began wit gentle resistance

This ongoing project began with an interest in the intersection of design, sport, and feminism, and has evolved into a space to hold and transform growing internalized rage in response to widespread social, environmental, and human rights violations.
The boxing glove serves as a central form—both a symbol of conflict and a container for emotion. Constructed through the slow, deliberate process of handweaving and textile assembly, the work holds a tension between method and feeling: a quiet, careful making that contrasts with an undercurrent of anger.
Colour operates as a counterbalance, asserting the necessity of seeking beauty, harmony, and resilience even in times of upheaval. The work does not resolve this tension, but instead makes space for its coexistence.

Join myself and Stefania Zwirello for a year long plant dye journey focused on working seasonally with natural dyes. This in person program meets once a month and offers participants the opportunity to build skills gradually while exploring a wide range of dye plants and processes over the course of a full year.

This cohort-based format allows for continuity, shared learning, and deeper engagement with plant dye practices as the seasons change.

For the vest I double up some boucle wool and it is so squishy!
The sweater I used a thin alpaca yarn.

Fibreshed-led textile education at Kootenay Studio Fibreshed-led textile education at Kootenay Studio Arts 🧶
With Selkirk unable to continue supporting arts programming at @kootenaystudioarts I have joined a group of arts and culture workers to explore an independently run craft school. Much is happening behind the scenes.
My focus right now is ensuring the fibre and textile spaces remain in community use. Through @westkootenayfibreshed , we’re exploring the potential for Fibreshed-led textile arts programming.
We’ve created a short survey (5 minutes) to help shape next steps. Even if you don’t live in the Kootenays, your input matters—one vision includes national and international residencies and experiential craft tourism.
Arts programming and craft matters more than ever in this age of AI and constant digital consumption.

Please share the survey and help spread the word.

Here is the link to the survey, I’ll also have it in stories- easier access !

I’ve been sewing boxing gloves. This pair is fr I’ve been sewing boxing gloves.

This pair is from cloth I wove on my floor loom- there’s two different dresses that match *not sold as sets.

The boxing gloves are part of a larger project I’ve been working on.

It started last spring when I made a soccer ball out of cloth I wove.
I was inspired by the design of the soccer ball, it had me thinking about design in sports equipment, which led me thinking about how women’s sports are under appreciated , then I get riled up about patriarchy….
It’s a slow work in progress, and very satisfying.
